Sheriff’s deputies keep San Francisco Superior courtrooms and buildings safe

How do Sheriff’s deputies protect the courts?

San Francisco Sheriff’s Office (SFSO) deputies protect San Francisco Superior courtrooms and keep court buildings safe for judges, attorneys, employees and the public. Deputies monitor the entrance to the court buildings and screen all visitors for any banned items such as drugs or weapons.

Deputies also serve as bailiffs, maintaining order in the courtrooms and escorting incarcerated people from holding cells to the courtrooms. SFSO has about 80 deputies working in the city’s courtrooms and three court buildings.
