Memorial Day In-Person Visitations

Description

Dear Community Members, I am pleased to announce that this Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th, we held a Special Holiday In-person Visiting Day, limited public capacity, at all San Francisco County Jails from 8 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Visits were limited to one adult guest per inmate for a 25-minute session.

I am hopeful that Regular In-Person Visits will resume by July 1, 2022. We are working to re-introduce continued and regular in-person community visiting as soon as we can do so safely and reliably. While our goal was to have visits back in full swing by mid-June, a necessary computer application update and staffing shortages threw an unexpected wrench in our schedule. I share this with you in the spirit of full transparency.

I want to recognize the One Family program for its efforts in restarting our parent and child contact visits. These visits restarted with new COVID safety protocols in time for children to reunite with their moms for Mother’s Day 2022. Our next Parent/Child Visit at County Jail #3 is scheduled for One Family participants on Saturday, June 11th.

The City’s Health Order is constantly changing, but our deputies continue to adapt to its new rules and restrictions to ensure that in-person visits remain a priority. These rules are a guide to foster a safer environment by: limiting person-to-person contact through a reduction or temporary limitation upon services, implementing guidelines to reduce gatherings between persons from different households, and mandating mask-wearing and proof of vaccination/booster. Look for important changes and continued updates to in-person visitation which can be found on our website sfsheriff.com.

Stay safe, be well, and take care,

-Sheriff Paul Miyamoto
