Kelvin Wu

Kelvin Wu serves as Chief of Staff to San Francisco Sheriff Paul Miyamoto. Working directly with the Sheriff and executive leadership, Kelvin helps coordinate the Sheriff's priorities, advance strategic initiatives, and strengthen collaboration across the San Francisco Sheriff's Office. He also supports the Sheriff's government and community relations, executive communications, and partnerships with City departments, elected officials, community organizations, and public safety agencies.

Kelvin joined the San Francisco Sheriff's Office in 2021 as Public Relations Officer and was promoted to Director of Community Engagement in 2023. In that role, he led the Office's community engagement efforts and worked to strengthen relationships between the Sheriff's Office and the diverse communities it serves. His work included community outreach, public safety forums, youth programs, recruitment initiatives, civic and cultural events, and partnerships with community-based organizations and government agencies.

Prior to joining the Sheriff's Office, Kelvin served as a Community Liaison in the San Francisco Mayor's Office. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was deployed to San Francisco's COVID Command Center, where he served as Assistant Director of the Joint Information Center and helped coordinate public information and outreach to communities throughout the city.

A first-generation immigrant from Macau, China, Kelvin came to the United States more than two decades ago. He earned his law degree from Sun Yat-sen University, a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of San Francisco School of Law, and an MBA from Yuin University. His background in law, business, communications, and community engagement brings a broad perspective to his work in public service. He is a native speaker of Cantonese and Mandarin.

Kelvin is also active in San Francisco's nonprofit and civic community. He serves as Vice President of the Wah Mei School Board and holds leadership and board roles with the Asian Pacific American Public Affairs Association (APAPA) San Francisco Chapter and the San Francisco Coalition of Asian American Government Employees. His community involvement focuses on education, civic engagement, and community service.

Kelvin is married and has two children. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching and playing basketball, traveling with his family, and photography.
