Evictions

If you have questions regarding evictions in San Francisco, please contact Evictions Assistance Unit at sfso.evictions@sfgov.org.

Once the San Francisco Sheriff's Office receives a writ of possession, instructions and appropriate fees, the Civil Section will post an eviction notice on the property. After the Civil Section has posted the eviction notice, the Civil Section will call the agent for service that you listed in the instructions with the eviction date and time. You or your representative must be present at the scheduled time for the eviction.

It is common for tenants to change the locks. If you do not have the correct key to gain us entry to the property on the day of eviction, we ask that you complete the San Francisco Sheriff's Office Eviction Services Waiver and Release of Liability form prior to the scheduled eviction. If you do not have a working key, and you do not sign the Eviction Services Waiver and Release of Liability form, the Civil Section may not be able to complete the eviction.

Eviction Services Waiver and Release of Liability Form can be Found in the Forms Section under Civil Forms
