The Sheriff's Office operates two custodial jails and an Intake and Release Center where people are booked after they are arrested. These include:

• County Jail #2 at 425 - 7th Street, San Francisco housing all genders with a rated capacity of 392 beds
• County Jail #3 in San Bruno housing incarcerated males with a rated capacity of 768 beds
